STADAP is the Steffel family’s apartment brand — a Viennese residence rooted in the city since the days of Empress Maria Theresa. The family’s roots reach back to the imperial court, where it served as k.u.k. Hoflieferant — a purveyor reserved for the empire’s finest. That same standard runs through the flagship Gründerzeit house at Semperstraße 31, rebuilt by the family entirely from its own means after the Second World War, and through to today’s eleven curated apartments under the STADAP name.
FROM THE IMPERIAL TABLE TO A 2025 ARCHITECTURE PRIZE

● The Steffel family acquires land in Vienna — today’s Semperstraße 31 — running a dairy and cheese production, and becomes k.u.k. Hoflieferant to the imperial court.

● Plans are drawn for the Gründerzeit house that still stands at Semperstraße 31 today.

1905

● Semperstraße 31 is completed — the family’s flagship address.

1939–1945 → from 1945

● The house is damaged during the Second World War and then rebuilt by the family entirely from its own means — a long-term commitment that still defines STADAP.
